How to Enable and Use AI Agent in Settings on Windows 11

Dec 22, 2025

Microsoft is steadily weaving AI‑powered features into Windows 11. Agent in Windows Settings is a new feature in Windows 11 Copilot+ PCs that uses on-device AI to find and change settings and get relevant recommendations within the Settings app. It can also execute tasks automatically based on your input.

The Settings agent utilizes a lightweight, locally run language model called Settings MU to provide intelligent search suggestions, enabling you to quickly find and modify system settings. In short, it improves search results throughout the Settings app.

Note: The AI agent is only available for Copilot+ PCs on Windows 11, version 24H2 with KB5062660 and later. And the device must have enabled the temporary enterprise feature control policy setting.

Enable Agent in Settings App via Windows Registry

Follow the steps below to enable or disable the Agent in the Settings app in Registry Editor.

1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialogue.

2. Type in regedit and press Enter to open.

Now you can try out the new assistant. Open the Settings app on your Copilot+ PC and use the search box to describe the problem or the setting you want to change.

For example, if you type Volume is too low in the search box, the agent will provide relevant information or suggestions to adjust the volume. You can click Apply to make changes.

Try out the new AI assistant in Settins.

Conclusion:

By enabling and using Agent in Windows 11 Settings, you get a guided, conversational way to control your PC, especially helpful if you’re not familiar with every corner of the Settings app. With a few clicks to enable it and some natural‑language commands, you can configure your system, troubleshoot issues, and understand what each option really does.
