DirectStorage is a new Windows gaming technology available on Windows 11 and partial Windows 10, designing to significantly reduce game loading times by leveraging modern NVMe SSDs and GPU decompression. Before you can enjoy faster load times in supported games, it is important to ensure your PC meets the requirements. This article explains how to check if your system is ready for DirectStorage.
Press Win+G on your keyboard to open the Xbox Game Bar.
Click on the Settings (gear icon) on the top-right corner, scroll down and select More settings.

On the drop-down menu of More settings, select Gaming features.

On the Gaming features window that pops up, check your GPU, drives and Windows version under Graphics and DirectStorage to see if they meet the requirements.

While DirectStorage represents the future of PC gaming performance, its real-world impact is currently limited to a small number of supported games. Run through the checks above to confirm, and look forward to faster loading times in next-generation games.
